HIGHLIGHTS

  • Worked extensively with the builder and design team to consolidate Virgin’s Engineering team into Virgin’s existing Administration Office Area with a focus on spatial quality.
  • Managed the project scheduling (design and delivery) to allow seven stages (7) of delivery with minimal impact to staff amenities and nil disruption to the continuity of Virgin’s aircraft flight operations.

MORE INFORMATION

  • In response to federal government requirements for airside security strengthening, Virgin’s existing engineer workshop and office needed to relocate.  This relocation also provided a unique opportunity for Virgin to collocate its engineering and flight crew operations.
  • The relocation provided various challenges for the building contractor with every move having detailed “chess board” strategy ensuring minimal disruption to BAU but suitable to enable building works to meet a tight timeframe. The design incorporated spatial efficiencies, flexibility and value engineering with limited budget and tight timeframe.
  • While the engagement of the Building contractor was under a design and construction contract, the nature of the design and delivery constraints demanded a high level of communication, client interface and ‘one team collaborative” approach.
